Jean-Denis Piette

Jean Denis Piette (1998) originally graduated as an organist in 2023 at the Institut Royal Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie (IMEP) in Namur. In these study years, he discovered his love for singing. That’s how he received his degree as a baryton one year later. His talent was rewarded that same year in the Concours d’Art Lyrique de Namur, where he not only won the jury prize, but also the public price.

Despite his young age, he has developed quite some experience. His first experiences in opera were in the opera studio of the Palais des Beaux-arts in Charleroi, singing in Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’ and Offenbach’s ‘Les contes d’Hoffmann’. He later also joined the young singers’ academy of the Royal Theatre La Monnaie, where he sang in the choir and solo for Wagner’s ‘Parsifal’, Verdi’s ‘Falstaff’ and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Pikovaya Dama’.  His talent has also led him to singing in the Opéra Grand Avignon and being an understudy for Opera Ballet Flanders. Besides his singing experience, he also mounted a production of Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ in Clavier, which led to four sold out performances.
