Emma Posman (1994) graduated with the highest honours from the Royal Conservatoire of Ghent. She soon became a member of the youth academy at De La Monnaie/De Munt and the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Posman went on to appear frequently at the former in particular. There, she sang, amongst other roles, Lauretta in Puccini’s ‘Gianni Schicchi’, a production she subsequently performed at the Teatro Regio Torino. She also sang roles there in Tchaikovsky’s ‘The Queen of Spades’ and Ravel’s ‘L’Enfant et les Sortilèges’. Posman is also a welcome guest at the Alden Biesen Summer Opera, where she has already sung in Lehár’s ‘Die Lustige Witwe’. Puccini’s ‘Gianni Schicchi’ and ‘La Bohème’ have also featured in the programme.
Her international breakthrough came in 2018, when Posman was called upon to step in as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’ just three hours before the performance was due to begin. Posman delivered an impressive performance that earned her the same role at several major German opera houses, such as the Komische Oper Berlin and the Staatsoper Hannover.
Despite her young age, Posman has already built up an impressive career, having collaborated with big names such as Barbara Hannigan, Nathalie Stutzmann and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Posman makes her role debut as Lucia di Lammermoor.
