Marcel Vanaud

Marcel Vanaud started studying as a baritone singer at the conservatory of Brussels. After winning the first price in singing and lyrical art, he also studied at the conservatory in Liège. Being noticed for his excellent technique, he was invited to sing his first of many roles at the Opéra Royal de la Wallonie. Staying there for seven years, he performed many leading roles. After that, Vanaud made his debut at the Royal Opera La Monnaie, where he appeared in the three Mozart/Da Ponte-opera’s: ‘            Don Giovanni’, ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ and ‘Così fan Tutte’. Not long after that, his talent was also noted abroad. Vanaud has thus sung in major European cities like Paris and Vienna, but also in North- and South-America. He sang in major opera houses like the New York Opera and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

As diverse as the places he sung, is also his repertory. Starting with opera’s by Mozart, Vanaud is known for his interpretations of Verdi and Wagner. This also led to an impressive amount of recordings. Finally, he also translated his expertise in teaching. That’s how he led the Lyrical Studio in Charleroi and was a teacher at the conservatory of Liège.
